Here is a list of recent reviews and articles. Below the more recent one you can find older articles. I found a bunch of the ancient articles in the shed in a box I found! There are however a lot of more recent clippings, as soon as I go through those boxes in the storage shed . . .
Hello and welcome to my site! I'll do my best to keep you informed on what I'm doing and where I'm going - my comings and goings. I'm always pushing and pulling in various directions, in a good way. Living the life Fandango. Whatever.
So a brief fill in about me: I'm a jazz guitarist who plays a variety of, mostly, improvised music. I also write music, and own and operate a recording studio. I’m also a teacher and college professor who taught at The University of the Pacific and Cosumnes River College and presently at carious star prisons in Northern California.
Many of you probably know me from my band, The Henry Robinett Group. This has been, and continues to be, a major creative outlet for me. I love writing for and performing with HRG.
I also love teaching music, jazz and the guitar. I'm going to post some video lessons and printed lessons for download on my music lessons page.
The great photos on this page were done by photographer Scott Sharick - the cover photo for I Have Known Mountains, graphic design by Kelly Martinelli, photography by the amazing Mr. Randy Snook and the art/graphic design was done by the incomparable Michelle Macdonnell. They also did the artwork for When Fortresses Fall and An Uncommon Prayer. Michelle designed Life X 2 and Sonya Stone did the photography. Additional photos were taken by Sandra Calkins and Kiem Nguyen.
I just want to take this opportunity to show you this wonderful photograph Randy Snook did of my boys and me for his book "Fathers and Sons."
Between the Sacramento Magazine's Best ofs and SN&R I've been fortunate enough to get some acknowledgements. Starting in 1988 I received some great awards voted either by critics or by popular vote.
